31/21 - Last Post for this challenge...

And, a challenge that defiantly was for me, if you were following along my blog at all, you can tell! Although I did enjoy it. I hope some of my posts have showed how Osiyyah is just apart of our normal life. And, how having a sibling with special needs is actually quite fun and exciting. I am very thankful that God blessed us with Osiyyah. I'll leave you with a picture that was taken 3 1/2 years ago.

31/21 - 1 Mile Walk

It's a 1 mile walk if you walk all the way around the perimeter of our 40 acres. Today was the first day that I took Canuck all that way since it's started to cool down. I have slowly been working him up to that, by going about 1/2 mile instead of the whole way. I want to be careful he doesn't tear a ligament or hurt himself by trying to go too far too fast. Anyways, here's some pictures from our walk. My dad and 5 of my siblings came along. Osiyyah had a new toy car/wagon thing he wanted to take on our walk. We were supposed to pick up hickory nuts in it, but the ones we did pick up ended up falling out. So, hopefully next time we will be better prepared to pick up the nuts. Enjoy the pictures!

    The start of our walk:

The cows on the neighbors property:

                                                                     Ranch dogs:

Stopping to pick up Hickory nuts:
Mini:
Running back to help the kids with the wagon:

The Llama:

31/21 - What is TNI?

Whoops, I didn't post anything yesterday. I've had a busy day today, really tired and can't wait to crawl in bed. Anyways, here's an article for you to read today. It's about the vitamins we give my brother.

What Is Targeted Nutritional Intervention for Down Syndrome?
by Qadoshyah Fish
Targeted Nutritional Intervention are formulas (similar to a multivitamin) of vitamins, minerals and amino acids that are specifically formulated for an individual with Down Syndrome (DS). These formulas are specifically formulated for someone with DS because they typically have different metabolic & biochemical processes going on inside of their bodies. Due to these processes, most individuals with DS have various chemicals, vitamins, minerals or amino acids that are either too low (deficient) or too high. With them being too low in certain vitamins, minerals, or amino acids, this can cause damage in various ways. With them also being high in some things, this can also cause damage.
Thus, the reason for TNI - the formula is specially designed to increase the nutrients they are low in and to help decrease the nutrients they are high in. Also, there are certain nutrients you do not want to give someone with Down Syndrome because of the metabolic & biochemical imbalances/processes they have going on inside of them. You should not give someone with DS just any ole regular multi-vitamin, due to the above reasons. I will explain more on these things I am talking about in separate articles about this subject, as time goes on and as I get to writing these other articles. For a very indepth article about TNI please see here.
Feel free to email us with any questions about TNI for DS.

31/21 - Well,

nothing real exciting to post today. Canuck is still recovering from the Buddy Walk. He is soo exhausted from greeting all those people in one day! He's slept pretty much all day today, and is sleeping as I am typing this right now. We had a nice thunderstorm just a little bit ago. Had a busy day in town and all...gotta get off here and head towards bed.

More tomorrow..Lord willing.

31/21 - Bath Time!

Well, one of Osiyyah's favorite things to do is wash Canuck. So, today, after our walk, and after Canuck had jumped in the mud, I decided to give him a bath. Here's some pictures from our day.

And, a couple shots of the Arrow & Canuck waiting for dinner -

31/21 - What a bum!

Well, I really wanted to post everyday this month, BUT I guess it isn't gonna happen since I missed 2 days in a row. Been busy...busy. And, then when I did remember that I didn't post yesterday, it was 1am today!
SO, hopefully I will not miss anymore days.

Remember the Buddy Walk is this Sunday. Here's a picture of something one of my sisters made for the Buddy Walk.

31/21 Walking DJ

Just a few pictures from our walk with DJ today - Osiyyah really enjoys walking the dogs. I had my little brother and sister taking most the pictures today - didn't do too bad of a job! And, yes Canuck did get to play outside today, I just didn't have the camera on me. Remember to come to the Buddy Walk this Sunday - http://www.dsat.org/buddywalk.asp
